Q. - What is NURCAC?
A. - NURCAC owns and operates a private R/C model flying field and is an AMA sanctioned R/C club. The club is a Non-Profit Organization incorporated in the State of Utah. Membership is open to all radio controlled aircraft enthusiasts in the area. The club has approximately 150 members ranging from beginners to master modelers. The acronym ’NURCAC’ stands for ’Northern Utah Radio Controlled Aircraft Club’. NURCAC is one of the West’s premier R/C flying sites and provides the following facilities and benifits to its members and guests:
- Asphalt Paved Runway (650’ long and 70’ wide; re-sealed in July of 2004; fly facing east for afternoon and evening flying)
- Huge beautifully smooth salt-flat runway (about 2,000’ long and 700’ wide; fly facing west for morning flying)
- Covered pavilion for each runway
- Wide open, unobstructed flying area on 50 acres of fenced land owned by NURCAC
- Gated entrance and fenced property
- Restroom facilities on east and west sides of the flying site. (maintained by a commercial company)
- Watered and Maintained Grass around the pit area on the Paved Runway side of the field.
Q. - Where is NURCAC located?
A. - NURCAC is located about 9.5 miles west of Ogden’s 12th Street I-15 Exit #344 (off the south side of the road). Enter at the Blue and Yellow gate. It’s hard to miss the white NURCAC sign by the gate.
Q. - What kinds of aircraft may be flown at the NURCAC site?
A. - All areas of RC aircraft modeling are represented and include: Trainers, Scale Models, Sport Models, Q500 Racers, Ducted Fans, Turbines, Helicopters, Pattern, etc.
Q. - Does NURCAC provide any training for new and less experienced pilots?
A. - The club has a training program with excellent instructor pilots willing to help the beginner get started in the hobby.
Q. - How can I become a member of NURCAC?
A. - Membership in the club requires AMA membership and a $250.00 initiation fee. Starting in 2005 annual dues are $60.00 for members over 18 and under 62 years of age. For those over 62, the annual dues are $45.00. Youth, under 18 dues are $20.00. Associate Membership for those in the area on a temporary basis is available for $100.00 per year (no initiation fee).You may print the membership application form from this web site.
Q. - Does NURCAC hold any club meetings?
A. - Club meetings are normally held on the third Saturday of the month. In the winter the meetings are held at the Ogden Airport Terminal at 7:00 p.m. In the summer the meetings consist of some type of event held at the Flying Site at 4:30 p.m. If you are interested in RC Aircraft modeling, you will be welcome at these meetings.

Q. - Is the weather data on the NURCAC website actual data from a weather station located on site at the NURCAC Field Airport?
A. - Yes! Absolutely! The data that you see in the graphs and charts on the Internet is no more than 5 minutes old and it taken from an actual weather station located on site at the NURCAC field. The weather station at NURCAC Field transmits current weather data every 5 minutes. You are seeing the actual conditions at the field. The weather station is reporting temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, rain fall and most importantly wind speed and wind direction.
